The modernization of the first UDP vessel is at its final stage. Diesel generators, the first main engine and gearbox have been installe
Any pilot project involves risks. But there is no reason to worry anymore. The main units are in place.
ÖSWAG representatives are satisfied. The result meets expectations.
The new equipment fits perfectly in the engine room. We have a real new modern vessel that operates in a 5+1 caravan with a carrying capacity of 9,000 tons. This means significantly lower shipping costs per ton of cargo. With new 20% more powerful and energy-efficient engines, UDP fleet gets even more advantages. Compliance with ES-TRIN (EURO 5 environmental standard) removes any restrictions on the use of the new fleet. Outdated vessels spend the lion’s share of their time in repairs, while the situation with modernized vessels is quite different.
Our Company continues to invest in the project. We see no risks and are sending more three vessels to Austria.
This is an important signal to international donors who are considering providing long-term financing to UDP.
This year’s market turnover on the Danube is low. But we are confident in the prospects for modernization. The winner in business is the one who can think several steps ahead and follow the chosen strategy.
Shipping three vessels from Ukraine to Austria involves a considerable expense. Therefore, we form a convoy of three vessels and three barges. We load all six units in Izmail with iron ore, which we deliver to Smederevo (Serbia).
After unloading, the self-propelled vessels will continue their journey to Linz. In this way, we will cover the transportation costs.
The success of the Big Project is determined not only by a good idea and the right strategy. It is important to pay attention to details and optimize costs where possible…
