In 2023, the shipping company resumed its voyages on the Middle Danube. The delivery of grain continues this year as well.
“We are constantly consulting with our partners about increasing volumes. The question is not about transferring these volumes specifically to UDP. The only question is whether our client needs additional volumes,” comments Vladyslav Belakh, Deputy General Director of UDP.
Last year, HBIS Serbia shut down one of its two blast furnaces with a capacity of 900 thousand tons of pig iron. In January of this year, the company announced it would only restart it following a revival in the market.
Overall, steel production in the EU countries decreased by 7% last year and continues to decline at the beginning of this year. In Serbia, the decline was 34%.
“As demand for metal increases, so will the volumes of raw material deliveries to metallurgical plants,” notes Vladyslav Belakh.
